Description
While exploring Scotland, I spent some time hiking in the Cairngorms. This particular trail had started in the woodlands and they really captured my attention. In the return portion of the hike I decided to stop to experiment with some ICM (Intentional Camera Movement). The woods had a repetitive pattern of tall conifers with a beautiful gradation of color. The trunks became quite a vibrant shade of red as the trunks stretched upward. I knew I wanted to preserve the vertical lines of the forest but blue the details and blend the colors of the forest floor closer with these vibrant hues of red. I dialed in my exposure expecting to need to fiddle with the settings over multiple attempts, and then pressed the shutter as I gave a quick jerk upwards with the camera. This image is what I captured on the first attempt.
