This week’s post is a video tutorial which shows the transformation process behind my piece “Sunset Over the Plains.” This shot was taken in Iceland in early March of 2016. I was driving around the Golden Circle and stopped to admire the vast open landscape around me. Living in New York, its hard to find somewhere where this is this much open space with no people or structures. Unfortunately, it was an overcast, winter day, and the lack of interesting sky made the original photo quite bland. After going through many of the photos I took on the trip and selecting the best ones to make prints, I left this one out of the selection. It wasn’t until I processed through all of my “good” photos that I came back looking for more material. I took a second look at this photo and really liked how the landscape was laid out so I decided to see what I could do with it.
In the video below I walk you through step by step how I went from the original photo to the final image I call “Sunset Over the Plains.” If you like the video leave some comments either on this blog post or under the video on YouTube to let me know what you think. This is my first of hopefully many videos so leave some comments on what you liked/disliked or what you want to see next!
